When you are browsing the internet, for example, looking for some references to support your study, there are often you want to save or copy the articles from web page into Microsoft word. Actually the copy-paste process is simple and easy, but what makes you suffer is the website’s (or HTML) formats will be included in Microsoft word when you paste the text. All web page style, links and etc that included in your document can make the editing part very complicated.
Use “paste special” instead of “paste”
To avoid the problem above, I suggest you to use “paste special” instead. Let’s take an example:
Let’s say that you want to copy articles about barcode from Wikipedia. When you use default “paste” in Microsoft word, the result will be like this:
Unfortunately this method will include all links and styles that inherited from the web page into your document. That’s really such a pain to clean up all the links and change the style.
To solve this problem you have to use “Paste Special”. In microsoft word 2007 and 2010 you can find this option on the home’s tab menu, located at the left side of the ribbon. For ms word 2003 and 2000, click edit menu – choose paste special. Or simply press “Alt+Ctrl+V”

Make sure you have selected “Unformatted Text” on the paste “As:” option.
And this is the result if you use “Paste Special”:
Okay folks, now you have seen the difference, I hope this can be useful for you. Just remember this trick when you want to copy paste text from web page into Microsoft word.
