Previously we have covered about Ubuntu 9.10 karmic koala and netbook remix, thanks to open source community, now the Ubuntu 10.04 aka Lucid Lynx final version is available for free download. Yup, it is finally out of beta, as previously scheduled, they’ve launched Ubuntu 10.04 LTS final on April 29, 2010. LTS is an abbreviation of Long Time Support, which means you can get technical supports, 3 years for Desktop and 5 years for Server (no extra fee required). Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx boasts its fast booting performance which only takes less than 10 seconds. Furthermore it also offers some new features and applications.

Here are some features introduced in Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx:
- New default themes, introduces Ambience (black) and Radiance (White)
- Fast booting, only takes 10 seconds (tested on Dell Mini 10 with 1,5GHz processor)
- Gnome 2.30
- Linux Kernel 2.6.32, for fast computing experience
- Surf the internet with free and fast opensource browser, Mozilla Firefox (included in Ubuntu 10.04). There are also other browsers as alternative that you can get from the Software Center.
- Office application will be supported by OpenOffice 3.2 (latest release). The office suite provides you with everything you need for creating documents, presentations, spreadsheets and etc. OpenOffice.org is compatible with Microsoft Office documents / files, or you can save your document as Open Document (ODF) format.
- Ubuntu features F-Spot, a program to organize (store, view and edit) your photo collections.
- Integrated social networking and chat applications. Ubuntu 10.04 introduces the new Me Menu application which lets users to access Twitter and Facebook accounts, enable users to update their status and chat with friends.
- Multimedia supports. You can play streaming online videos from YouTube, iPlayer and MSN Player; or watch your own movies with media player. Ubuntu 10.04 also includes Pitivi, a video editing application.
- Other applications: Gwibber (microblogging), Ubuntu One Music Store, Simple Scan and etc.
- If you need advanced software or other applications you can visit Software Center, it allows you to access tons of opensource programs from a wide range of categories, all free. In this place you can find and get many interesting software as many as you like such as office, multimedia (audio and video), games, photo editor, programming and so forth.
