eQuake Alert is a plugin for Mozilla firefox browser that has unique features. It gives you alerts of recent earthquakes on your browser, plus provides you with some basic information such as magnitude, location and time (date and hour) of events. Basically it will shake your browser proportional to the earth quake magnitude, but you can customize the notification method.

eQuake uses USGS (US Geological Survey) website RSS feed – updated regularly every 5 minutes (default). By using internet connection, the RSS data will be delivered to your computer then your browser will receive some information / alerts about recent earthquakes (magnitude, location and time).

You can see the recent occurrence on your browser’s statusbar. If you need more detailed information about recent earth quake you can access each event by right-click on statusbar. There are some links to USGS web pages – related to the recent events.
