Did you ever see lorem ipsum dolor sit amet … text? What kind of language / words it that? Well, as far as I know there are no certain meanings for those words, it is just a dummy text in the layout of something. I myself, as a blogger often see the lorem ipsum text in web or blog templates. I guess the benefit of using the dummy text is just to provide the audience a clear visual presentation for a layout performance. Usually, web designers are often using this text in the web theme which she / he designed. For your information, lorem ipsum text can be generated by Microsoft Office Word (2000,2003,2007). Or if you don’t have ms word program you can also generate the text by using OpenOffice Writer (but in this case you will need an additional extension for OO Writer).
Auto Generated Lorem Ipsum In Microsoft Word
You don’t need any generator software and other online resources. This can be done very easy. For Ms Word 2000 and 2003, type “=rand()” without quotes, then press enter! For Microsoft Word 2007, type “=lorem()” instead. The command will automatically create three paragraph of lorem ipsum dummy text, see at the picture below :
How if I want to generate more lorem ipsum text? Okay, this is the formula :
=lorem(number of paragraphs,number of lines)
For example, if you want to make 8 paragraphs with 5 lines / sentences just type “=lorem(8,5)”.
Please note that to be able to do this, you have to make sure that you have enabled the “replace text as you type” in the autocorrect option. Follow to these steps:
1. Click office menu button
2. Click “Word Options” (located on the left side of “exit word” button)
3. On the left pane, click “Proofing”
4. Then click “Auto Correct Options” in the right pane
5. Select on the check box “replace text as you type” then click OK

To generate lorem ipsum in openoffice writer you have to install the extension (developed by lohdahl). Your missions here are to download lorem ipsum extension and install it in your word processor. Once it is installed, start a new word document and now you can see a new button on your toolbar. It will be look like this:
Just click the button to generate lorem ipsum in openoffice writer – Set the number of paragraph or words or bytes or lists – and then click OK.
